The evolution of “Web 2.0″

December 19th, 2008

I myself have been reading more and more about the “myth” that is known as Web 2.0. I would have to agree that, most of the time, this term simply relates to an ideology more than a physical concept and that Web 2.0 has become, simply put, a marketing term for developers to con unknowledgable clients into projects that are beyond the scope of their needs. This isn’t to say that Web 2.0 as a general idea doesn’t exist though, because it certainly does. Before this semi-recent rush of Internet technology we weren’t privledged to have AJAX, seemless Flash integration, YouTube, and numerous other instantaneous web applications that make our lives complete.

Before the evolution of the web, we were limited to pretty basic websites. Our designs were simple, square with rows and columns and animated GIFs. Times have immensively changed! The only question left to ask is: where do we go from here?
