We are pleased to announce that we have recently made some changes to our servers and are not able to offer Perl to our list of available features. This now allows even more flexibility with your website; your website isn’t restricted to Linux servers as some provides may have lead you to believe. In fact; our servers offer many of the major features that people look for in a Linux hosting environment. Our servers provide PHP5 support along with MySQL and now the addition of Perl. An advantage of hosting in a Windows environment is that you not only have the functionality that you would have on a Linux server, but you also get native support of Microsoft technologies such as classic ASP scripting as well as .Net applications.

Not only have we added Perl to servers; but we have also added the log analyzer AWStats to provide our customers with simple, easy-to-use statistical information about the users visiting their websites.Customers:

To enable Perl, login to your MyFTWebD account at http://my.ftwebd.com/ and navigate to your domain. Once there; select “Web Settings” and on the bottom of that page you will see a checkbox to enable Perl support.

To enable and view your AWStats, login to your MyFTWebD account and navigate to your domain. Once there; select “Statistics” and look for “Advanced Statistics”.

The web hosting industry is becoming more competitive than ever. There is both high demand and high supply for this essential service, yet is the cost beneficial to either party? More and more hosts are competing to provide the most bandwidth, disk space, features, and support. We still stand strong that cost should not be the sole determining factor when it comes to webs hosting. You need a company that you know you can trust with your website, especially when that website is your business’s lifeline. Reliability and support are among the most important factors when thinking about finding a quality web host for your website.

Bandwidth, disk space, and features are always the next best determination for a web host, but usually these are overlooked by those seeking the cheapest web hosting available. Having a good blend of all aspects make for a reliable and supportive host that can serve your website to all your customers. Don’t get caught up in having every feature under the sun only to never use them and there’s no need for tons of bandwidth if your site is still in its infancy. Start small and let your hosting needs grow with your site, this will not only save you money, but will give you time to get to know who you’re working with.

Getting to know your host, how they support the services they provide, and how they can accommodate your website as it grows will make your experience all the better.

We have now launched FTWebD.net to provide the web-community with some of the latest news and information on web design and hosting as well as to outline our hosting department in general. We have always been known as FTWebd.com, but now bringing FTWebd.net to the table allows us to provide even more information as well as to provide hosting customers with information they want to see instead of filtering through a bunch of web design information. As we continue to post updates, we encourage users to register and comment as they see fit. Your comments and critiques only help to make us a better provider of custom web design and hosting.
